Moving Up!

The transition to Secondary School

Making the move from primary to secondary education is an exciting and important part of any child’s educational journey. We would like to reassure you that we do our very best to ensure the transition process is as seamless, enjoyable, and informative as possible, so everyone feels prepared and settles in well.

Our induction evening is taking place on Tuesday 21st May, start time 6.30pm; we really do encourage you to attend. On this evening we share lots of information, offer reassurance, equipment is available to purchase, uniform is available to view, and you will have the time to ask questions or share concerns.

Over the summer term we work with primary schools, gaining as much information as possible about our new pupils. We have children joining us from 29 feeder schools this year; we will be visiting as many as we can. Alternatively, we will invite children from the more outlying schools, who may not know other students, to meet together, with us at Litcham instead. This will give an opportunity for those children to begin to make connections with peers. We will of course communicate with their teachers too.  Where students have Special Educational Needs, we will liaise directly with key staff at primary schools to ensure we are fully informed.

For those of you already looking to organise uniform and equipment, information can be found on our website www.litchamschool.org.uk/key-information/about-our-school/uniform/

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions – 01328 701265.

Resource for Year 6 - Moving on Up

The transition from Y6 to Y7 is an exciting and daunting one. Arguably the online risks and issues become greater as technology use increases and the child moves into their adolescent years. Childnet have created a number of free resources which can be used by teachers and parents to help with this transition. Videos include:

  • Marvin wants a phone.
  • Joel's dilemma about friend requests.
  • Isla sees online bullying.
  • and more.

You can view the resources HERE.

Our Schools

Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises fifteen Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
