Our School

Reading Award Schemes

The purpose of our reading award schemes is to encourage students to read regularly and widen their reading choices by trying a range of different genres and authors.

Accelerated Reader- All students in years 5, 6, 7 and 8 are enrolled on the Accelerated Reader Programme. This system enables students to test their understanding of the books that they have read through interactive quizzes. If 100% is achieved on a quiz, their student profile is updated with achievement points, recognising their 100% achievement. This is added to their student profile with notification being sent home via the parent app.

Carnegie Awards Scheme – After a hiatus, we are bringing back and participating in the 2026 Carnegie Awards. This interactive scheme provides students with access to a range of shortlisted books & e readers, enabling them to review the books in their own creative manner, publishing online to the collective ‘shadow group blog’ and being a part of the selection process. Previous winners have included Toms Midnight Garden and more.

This will begin March 2026 with several students taking part of their own accord, with the club aptly named The Dead Ink Society: Litcham Edition.

Further Reading Award Schemes – we hope to refresh the library with new reading schemes soon and look forward to introducing these shortly.
