School Production

Every year at Litcham School the Performing Arts dept stage a big scale music and drama production. This takes the form of a play with music and songs and is performed by students from years 7-11.

We usually have a cast of around 60-70 accompanied by a 15-piece band. Any student can get involved, whether playing a large acting role, being part of the chorus or for some, being part of the band.

The productions give students a vibrant and joyous experience, developing personal qualities such as teamwork, reliability, hard work ethic, resilience, pride in their own achievements, confidence to stand in front of an audience, confidence to express themselves and more, culminating in an experience they will remember for the rest of their lives. We have seen many ‘star’ performances over the years from student who academically might struggle but through the production have found something they can develop and excel at. We have seen shy, terrified students blossom over the course of five years into confident, fearless performers.

Many of our actors, musicians and technical operators have gone on to careers in the theatre and wider performing arts. Several often cite the school productions as a, or sometimes the crucial part of their journey.
