Our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum and focuses on its three key aims: fluency, reasoning, and problem solving.
We reinforce our teaching with the White Rose Maths scheme, which uses the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) approach. This helps children build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts, whilst supporting and challenging all learners to achieve success.
In EYFS and KS1, we also use the Mastering Number programme, developed by the NCETM. This helps to build a strong foundation in number sense, including counting, number bonds and calculation strategies. This ensures that children gain confidence and fluency with numbers from an early age.
In KS2, we use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) to help children develop rapid recall of multiplication and division facts. This supports fluency and confidence in calculations and enables children to tackle more complex mathematical problems with ease.
We encourage children to ask questions, discuss their work, explain their thinking, and tackle problems. Through perseverance, they learn to apply their knowledge to find accurate solutions.
We believe that children should not only feel confident in mathematics, but also enjoy exploring and discovering the subject.
