Modern Foreign Languages

Every KS2 class has a fortnightly foreign language lesson. Currently, French is taught by specialist teachers from the Secondary Phase in Year 4 and Year 6.

French is introduced through songs and games, which ensures the learning is engaging and fun for children. As pupils progress, lessons become more structured. Lessons begin to focus on speaking, listening, and reading skills, alongside an introduction to some cultural aspects of France.

Our languages curriculum is carefully designed to build confidence, develop communication skills and foster an appreciation of other cultures. These underpinning skills help children to enjoy learning a new language and preparing them for future language learning.
