PE

At Litcham Primary Phase, we are committed to delivering an exciting and varied curriculum. Our knowledge-led spiral PE curriculum ensures that knowledge and skills are taught and consolidated to demonstrate clear progression from EYFS to KS2.

We intend to give our children a broad PE curriculum that includes sports alongside developing personal, social skills, cognitive, creative, physical and health and fitness.

We promote high expectations, aspirations and competition and a secure understanding of a wide range of sports and skills to ensure students are prepared to be active citizens after leaving school.

Games Lesson:

We undertake a range of sports including Ultimate Frizbee, Handball, Pickleball, Athletics and more traditional sports such as, Netball, Cricket, Tennis and Basketball.

We are members of the West Norwich and Dereham Sports Partnership. Therefore, we endeavour to ensure that all children have an opportunity to take part in tournaments and school games regularly. Our ‘Games Curriculum’ is delivered through ‘Rising Stars’, who ensure that our curriculum is carefully crafted so that sport-specific and personal skills are progressed across children’s time at Litcham Primar Phase. Risin Stars also offer a range of after school clubs such as Dodgeball, Football and Multi-skills. These cater for children from Reception to Year 6. During lunchtimes, we offer the children and variety of clubs such as, yoga and speed-stacking.

RealPE:

Our PE curriculum uses Real PE, which is fully aligned with the National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements. It provides an outstanding programme for primary schools, offering comprehensive lesson plans, ideas, games and activities for EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Real PE focuses on developing children’s agility, balance and coordination as well as fostering healthy competition and cooperative learning. With a child-centred approach, it ensures that every pupil is included, supported and appropriately challenged. The curriculum also promotes physical literacy, alongside knowledge, emotional and thinking skills that are valuable not only for PE and sport but for life.

We track the progress of each child through their Real PE journey to promote high expectations and aspiration.  Teachers are supported to delivery high- quality PE through Learning Nutrition within the RealPE framework.

Swimming takes place at Dereham Leisure Centre for all children in KS2.
